I used to believe I wasn’t creative. And I definitely didn’t always understand what it meant to live in alignment with my soul.
When I went to college, I didn’t have a clue about what I wanted to study… My mom was the one who wanted me to go to school. She even filled out my application.
So, I started studying accounting because I liked math.
I’ll never forget the day of my final exam. I asked to go to the bathroom and when I got there, I just stared at myself in the mirror because sweat was pouring off of me.
I was like, what the fuck am I doing? This is not who I am.
Have you had one of those moments? Like, you’ve been going down this path because it made sense in your mind, but in your soul, you knew it wasn’t right for YOU? And by the time you realize it, you just gotta get out…
Well, that’s what it felt like for me. I went back to finish the test, but I got a D. I wasn’t a great student, but I never got Ds. That was my confirmation.
I had to make a change.
But I still didn’t know what to do. My mother had told me I wasn’t creative and she was the most creative person, but she didn’t believe she was creative.
So, she didn’t believe I was creative.
And so, I didn’t believe I was creative.
It wasn’t until my brother sat me down and told me I should work in television that I decided to study communications. Then, I realized how creative I am. How creative we all are.
Because no matter what we do or how old we are, our souls are creative.
