How To Identify & Connect With Your Spirit Guide

Oh my goodness, this is by far my most favorite topic. For those of you who don’t know me, I’ve been teaching people around the world how to communicate with Spirit Guides for over 15 years. I love this topic so much; I even wrote a book about it! You can find it here (link to book).

Guides are amazing!!!! They can help you live the most powerful life you have been yearning for. Guides will walk with you through your journey and help you make decisions aligned with your soul. They know why you are here and they want to help you discover your truth and live a joyful existence. By knowing them, you will experience unconditional love, someone who never judges you, someone who has your back wherever you go and is by your side through the difficult and good moments. My Guides truly changed my life for the better and they can do the same for you. 

The Different Types Of Spirit Guides   

Guides communicate using a multi-dimensional language that transcends space and time. They can incarnate in so many ways. Basically, they are energy. Everything is energy, right? So anything can be a Guide. It’s the importance you give to it or feel about it, that makes it special.

Guides can be deceased loved ones, animals, people you never knew who walked the earth plane, beings who never walked the earth plane, star systems (yes, the moon and sun can be a guide!), nature, colors, sound, angels, ascended masters, elements (fire, wood, air and earth) and the list goes on as our consciousness and understanding about Guides grows.

I know what I just wrote may not be what you have heard before and it may make you uncomfortable. That’s okay. The good news here is you get to decide what you like and work with it. Take what you like and leave the rest. That is what I always tell people when I give them a guided reading.

There is no need to complicate your communication with your Guide. It can be easy peasy. I’ve witnessed people complicating this system for sooooo long and that is why they struggle to communicate with their Guides.

You can start out with just picking a Guide you are attracted to and work with them. You picking a Guide usually means they are picking you. There is the rare occasion that the Guide you picked won’t work with you and when that happens, it’s usually because you didn’t pick that Guide from a truthful place. You may have picked them out of desperation or because everyone is working with that Guide, why can’t you? You want to pick a Guide that resonates deeply with your soul. So if you struggle with the one you picked, you’re not broken or doing it wrong.

Trust there is another Guide for you. Pick one you feel truly drawn to and work with them. For a list of Guides that were channeled through me, you can go here and pick your very own guide. I told you I have a ton of resources.

Many of you may already be experiencing your Guide but are unaware that what is happening, is your guide communicating with you. 

Ways You May Experience Your Spirit Guide 

The mere fact that you want to communicate with your Guide tells me you are probably already communicating with them. Intention to communicate is the first step. Trust me! Besides, you have had a Guide(s) with you since you were born. You just haven’t understood how they communicate with you.

Here are some ways they communicate:

1. You feel a faint touch on your arm, like a piece of hair falling on it, but there is no hair. That’s them touching you. 
2. You wake up with a song in your head. That is them speaking to you using clairaudience. 
3. You keep seeing repetitive symbols, like numbers or butterflies. They are using clairvoyance to communicate with you.
4. You feel some energy behind you when you are washing the dishes or cooking on the stove. They are standing by you. 
5. A thought that helps solve a problem just drops into your head. That is claircognizance. They are giving you that solution.
6. You smell something that isn’t there, like smoke or perfume. That is Clairolfactance. They are communicating through smell. 
7. You feel tingling on the top of your head. That is them touching your crown chakra.

These are just some of the ways they are getting your attention. I talk so much about this on my podcast “Who Can It Be Now,” and even take you on journeys to meet your Guide. You can listen to it wherever you listen to podcasts. Now let’s go through 3 surefire steps to connect with them. 

3 Steps On Connecting With Your Spirit Guides

There are so many ways you can connect with your Guides. It’s a relationship just like any other relationship, except this one is filled with unconditional love. You can talk to them via your thoughts, out loud, through song, writing, breath, and drawing, to name a few. They are your dearest friends and they want to connect to you and they are everywhere. Well, maybe not on Facebook, or are they? 

Do You Have To Be Gifted To Connect With Your Guides?

It was once believed that you had to be gifted to communicate with your Guides. I have news for you. We are all gifted, and our gifts are growing and expanding as our consciousness shifts and changes. Therefore, the biggest thing that impedes you communicating with your Guides is mind chatter. Stop that now!

STEP 1: The first step to communicating with your Guides is trusting that you are indeed in communication with them. TRUST for 30 days that you are communicating with them. Whenever you ask them a question, don’t doubt that they are answering. Just because you aren’t getting an answer at the moment doesn’t mean they aren’t answering. It just means you are still learning how to listen to their answers. If you go in and out of doubt the entire time, you will never recognize the answers to your questions.

So for 30 days, trust that they are hearing you and helping you. Every time you doubt they are there, throw your hands up in the air and say out loud, I promised to trust for 30 days, and then TRUST. It works. I have taught this simple technique to thousands of people and not once have I heard anyone say it doesn’t work. So try it. What do you have to lose?

STEP 2: Pick a Guide and work with them. It’s really simple. Tap into your heart and Pick a Guide you want to work with or pick one from my list. Tell them to stand in a particular location near you. For example, to the right of you, left, you choose. Now close your eyes and send them breath. When you inhale, feel them sending you breath. Exhale, send them breath. Inhale, they are sending you breath. Do this for a few rounds, then see your breath as a colored cord of light between the two of you.

Continue the inhaling and exhaling across this colored cord that is connecting the two of you. This is an umbilical cord of light that connects you to your Guide. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, drop the cord of light and it will dissolve. Sometimes our Guides come in with sooo much love for us, we have a hard time receiving it so it can feel uncomfortable. This is just one of the powerful exercises I teach, especially in my program Membership for your Soul. People have had outstanding success using breath to connect with their Guides. Try it now. 

STEP 3: Take them with you while you are walking, washing dishes, doing laundry, really anywhere you go. You know where they are standing now and no matter where you go, there they are. Talk to them as you are doing chores or walking. Ask them a question. After you ask them a question, close your eyes and listen to the sounds in the room. What do you hear? Open your eyes and notice where your eyes fall. What is it? Where did you get it? Everything is information and if you think and believe differently, you will receive information from your Guides.

What To Do After Meeting Your Spirit Guide

Well, now you have a best friend like none other. And like any relationship, you work on it, grow it, learn how to trust, and get to know each other better. The Guide you know today is going to differ from the one you know tomorrow and a year from now because your relationship keeps growing with them. My Guides and I grow tighter every single day. I’ve learned how to fully trust them, surrender when I need to, and take advice from them. 

What people don’t realize is your Guide is also learning from you. You are helping them elevate their consciousness where they are, too. I can’t say this enough. It’s a relationship, so work on it, and you will both be better off for it. 

How to work on it? Talk to them. Ask them questions. Let them take you on a meditative journey. Physically lean into them and feel them. Tell them your deepest secrets and listen to their encouragement. Spend time with them and you will have a beautiful relationship that will transcend time and space.
