Marilyn’s Soul Session Summary

Have you ever gone through a time in your life when it felt like everything was falling apart? A time when, no matter what decision you made, things came apart at the seams and felt wrong?

Are you experiencing that now? If so, the fear and anxiety can feel all-consuming. Life is happening ‘to you’ instead of you ‘happening’ to your life. It leaves you living the life of a victim. And frankly, it sucks.

You don’t have to focus on the chaos or the drama. In fact, if you want things to get better, you need to shift your focus. Walk away from the drama. Refuse to get sucked into the chaos. Live with gratitude.

That sounds wonderful, right? But HOW do you do change your focus when you’re in the midst of chaos and uncertainty? How do you change the moment, empower yourself, and live your dreams?

Weekly Wisdom: There are things you can’t control in life such as other people, natural disasters, etc. Some things do happen to you. However, how you react to the people, things, and events in your life is completely up to you. Change your reactions; change your life.

5 Tips to Help You Feel Confident in Your Decisions and Empower Yourself (even when there’s chaos)

1. Remember to breathe.

Breathing is a quick way to ground and connect with your Guides, God, or whatever your higher power is.

Inhale up and exhale down while walking. Breathe into your feet and body, and let it connect you to the earth and your inner strength. At about 12:20 in this week’s Facebook Live, I show you an easy breathing exercise to help you connect and calm yourself. (Or you can watch it on YouTube here.)

2. Become present.

Close your eyes, put your hands on your heart (I usually do left hand on my chest and right hand on the left, but you can do it either way), and ask your Guides what you need to know at this moment.

Now, open your eyes and scan the room as you count to 10. What do you see? How does the thing you’re looking at make you feel? How does it answer your question?

3. Speak it out loud.

When we get in our heads, there’s craziness and chaos there. You can’t always stop to journal or meditate, so speak out loud instead.

Speaking lets it out, gets your head clear, gets rid of nonsense, and is a release to the clutter in your head or heart. It can help even more than talking with your best friend. And, it leads to the next tip.

4. Hear what you have to say.

When you speak and hear it, you understand things differently. You can dismiss the nonsense and clutter and embrace the good. Someone else’s behavior that you’re internally rationalizing (maybe in an “it’s my fault” way) sounds different because you’d never let them get away with behaving that way to your friends. Hearing it makes you realize it.

Hearing your thoughts also makes you realize buried emotions…especially if you’re afraid to hear what you’re saying. It can let you move forward in your life.

Love yourself through things. You’re not allowed to beat yourself up. You can observe and learn, commit to change, and explore life and love, but do all of it with love.

5. Act “as if.”

Imagine yourself stepping into the dream you have in your heart. For me, I’ll picture a conversation with Oprah where I meet her, she asks me to teach one of her masterclasses, and I know exactly what I’ll say and do.

Now, I don’t necessarily believe that I’ll meet Oprah tomorrow. But, acting “as if” creates openings and makes you feel ready and worthy. It allows you to move forward as though you are ready.

In my case, I didn’t meet Oprah (yet), but in a completely unexpected chain of events, I met and am playing tennis with one of her VP’s.

However, if I never meet Oprah, that’s okay. I can’t wait on Oprah to make my dreams come true. However, the “as if” inspires me to be more engaged, stay motivated, and keep moving forward into my dreams.

If you’re having trouble with figuring out how to act “as if,” write a list of things that brings love into your heart and do something from the list every day.

Next week, I’ll be live on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. PT. Join me, invite a friend if you’d like, and let’s have some fun!

Marilyn
